"Inventing the Future: Trends, Perspectives and Enterprise from the Pacific Rim"

7th APRU Doctoral Students Conference

National University of Singapore (Singapore)
17th - 21st July, 2006

Welcome message

The Association for Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Doctoral Students Network (DSN) is a premier international students' organization in the Pacific Rim. The DSN echoes the objectives of APRU in fostering cooperation in education, research and enterprise among the doctoral students of 36 leading research universities from 16 economies in the Pacific Rim.

One of APRU's many distinguishing programs includes the annual Doctoral Students Conference (DSC). The APRU DSC aims to bring doctoral students in the Pacific Rim together for intellectual and social interactions. Students from every field of inquiry, whether at the beginning, middle or final stages of their research, are encouraged to share their findings not only with those in their research areas but also with others from outside their disciplines during the conference. Over the years, the conference has proven to bring immense benefits to doctoral student participants. They receive not only constructive peer critique that would contribute to their ongoing research efforts but also, at the same time, acquire valuable international experience and network opportunities.

This 7th annual DSC will be held in beautiful city of Singapore from 17th to 21st July 2006. Its venue will be at the sprawling campus of its dynamic and oldest tertiary institution, the National University of Singapore.

The Conference Organizing Committee will waive registration fees and provide free accommodation to all DSC participants for the duration of the conference. There will also be exciting special events that would provide opportunities for participants to explore the heart and soul of Singapore's unique society and culture.

This year's conference includes a competitive segment where students would be invited to write a business plan and make presentations on the value and contributions of their research to the betterment of the Pacific Rim community. Prizes will be awarded to the best contributions. The terms and conditions of this competition differ from the DSC.

This is indeed the conference that every doctoral student in the Pacific Rim would not want to miss. We invite you to join us for five unique days that will engage your mind and expand your experience.

Sincerely yours,

APRU, DSC (NUS) Organizing Committee.
