Telecommunication

Public payphones accept phonecards or coins in denominations of 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents and S$ 1.

Cardphones

All cardphones provide the following services using phonecard:
1) International Direct Calling
2) Subscriber Trunk Dialling (STD) for Malaysian calls
3) Local calls

Phonecards

Phone cards are available in denominations of S$5, S$10, S$20 and S$50. They are sold at all Post Offices (e.g Kent Ridge Post Office), the Co-op stores on campus, NTUC Fairprice and convenience stores. The Singtel Worldcard is a card that can be used for overseas calls, available in denominations of S$10, S$20, S$50.

  • Kent Ridge Post Office: Outside and inside of Post Office (card-operated, for local STD and IDD calls)
  • Outside University Health and Wellness Centre (UHWC) (coin-operated, for local, STD and IDD calls)
  • Inside canteen (coin-operated, for local, STD and IDD calls)
  • Students' lounge (card and coin-operated)

Personal Telecommunication

The use of pagers and handphones is prevalent in Singapore and on the NUS campus. Currently, there are 3 major providers of personal telecommunication services and they are Singtel, M1, Starhub.
