Double Degree M.A. by Research in Chinese Language
     with Peiking University (PKU)

All enrolled MA by Research students whose area of research is Chinese language may opt to enter this elite programme after the first semester of studies, provided that the CAP obtained is no lower than 3.5 and must meet other requirements.

Candidates are required to complete a thesis of 90, 000 to 100,000 characters, within a minimum period of 1 year or a maximum period of 3 years. There will be joint supervision by two faculty members, one from each university. In addition, they must read and pass 8 coursework modules; of which 4 are to be read in NUS and 4 in PKU and they must include CH6770. This means that all students must attend one semester on a full-time basis in the host university where they will read required modules. Also there will be an oral defence for this programme, presided over by faculty members from both universities; which the candidate must pass. Upon which, students will receive 2 degrees, one from NUS and the other from PKU.
