Degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) by Research

Applicants for the degree of Master of Arts by Research must possess a Second Class (Upper Division) Honours degree in Chinese Studies and the ability to pursue independent research in the candidate's proposed field of advanced study.

Candidates are required to complete a thesis of  80,000 – 120,000 characters, within a minimum period of 1 year or a maximum period of 3 years. In addition, they must read and pass 4 coursework modules.  These 4 modules must include CH6770.

The CAP should not fall below 2.50 for two consecutive semesters or 3.00 for three consecutive semesters. The minimum period of candidature is 1 year and the maximum, 3 years. The course may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.
