Conference Theme
Current Perspectives and Future Directions in
Foreign Language Teaching and Learning
National University of Singapore
1 – 3 December 2004
The conference, organized by the Centre
for Language Studies (CLS) of the National University of Singapore
(NUS), has come to a successful conclusion. CLaSIC 2004 brought
together academics, researchers and professionals from Asia and
beyond for a productive and rewarding exchange of insights,
experiences, views and perspectives on current and future
developments in foreign language teaching and learning. The
conference served as a platform for participants to report on
current research and practices in foreign language education and
related disciplines. It also provided an avenue for the discussion
and critical examination of new and innovative concepts and
approaches expected to have an impact on future practices.
CLaSIC 2004 was also proud to have played host to the inaugural
conference of the vibrant new
Pacific CALL Association. PacCALL@CLaSIC 2004 was integrated
into the section on the sub-theme "CALL / ICT, Multimedia and
Foreign Language Learning".
The CLaSIC 2004 Organizing Committee would
like to thank all participants and presenters for their tremendous
support of the conference and for their contributions which made
CLaSIC 2004 a success. Special thanks go to the invited plenary
speakers (please see below) whose lectures on the latest in their
respective fields of research greatly enriched the conference.
We hope to see you (again) at CLaSIC 2006!
