 INSTRUCTOR IN DESIGN FOR COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT 

 

The Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore (NUS) seeks to hire a full-time Instructor in publication graphics and design. We are interested in candidates with practical expertise and teaching experience in principles of communication design that meet strategic communications objectives, including communicating effectively through research and strategy; applying and packaging communication messages and design across print through interactive publications; mastering the planning, preparation and management of the design workflow; and developing an appreciation for visual literacy. Candidates with at least a Masters with a minimum of 4 years full time related, teaching experience are strongly encouraged to apply. 

CNM's Communication Management area focuses on public relations with emphasis on the use of new media in organizations’ strategic communications. Full time instructors normally have 12 contact-hours per semester. Compensation at NUS is highly competitive and includes eligibility for annual salary increments and performance bonuses. 

 

The successful candidate is expected to teach design modules and other communication management modules. Expertise in newswriting, online journalism and public speaking is highly desirable. VISITING SENIOR FELLOW IN MEDIA STUDIES, CULTURE, AND CRITICAL THEORY

 

The Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore (NUS) seeks to hire a Visiting Senior Fellow for one semester (tentatively to start Aug 2015) with research and teaching specialization in Media Studies, Culture, and Critical Theory.

For this position, the successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field, who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and research for a minimum of 5 years in a University.  We seek a colleague to conduct teaching and research in one or more of the following specializations in New Media: (a) New Media and Culture, (b) Cultural Studies of Technology; (c) Inter-Asia Cultural Studies; (d) Asian Modernities and New Media; (e) Postcolonial Theories of New Media; (f) Critical Theory and New Media; (g) Decolonizing Communication and New Media; (h) Political Economy of New Media; (i) Communication and National Imaginaries; (j) Critical Theory and Development Communication; (k) Civil Society and New Media; and/or (l) New Media and Networked Activism. We are interested in scholars with a record of research excellence.

We are interested in candidates with various expertise and teaching experience. Candidates must have a passion for teaching and possess a minimum of Honours Degree for the position. 

Compensation at NUS is highly competitive. The successful applicants are expected to assist in various teaching areas such as public speaking, research methods, theories, introductory modules, and cultural industries. The duties primarily consist of teaching/leading tutorials, consultations with students, class management and undergraduate internship supervision.

TENURE TRACK POSITION IN INTERACTIVE DIGITAL MEDIA DESIGN

 

The Department of Communications and New Media Department (CNM) at the National University of Singapore seeks outstanding candidates at the Assistant Professor level whose research complements our strengths in Interactive Media Design. CNM's Interactive Media Design is an interdisciplinary group of researchers who specialize in emergent issues at the intersections of media theory, design and HCI. We are seeking someone with expertise in one or more of the following areas: interaction design, critical media design, social media, and mediated communication in art, work, and play.

 

The successful candidate is expected to be an excellent researcher who contributes regularly to relevant top-tier conferences and journals; a teacher able to teach a mix of theory and studio/design modules for both undergraduate and graduate students; and an effective supervisor of undergraduate and graduate research. The successful candidate will teach core CNM interactive media design courses as well as courses in his/her area of specialization.
