CNM Head, Associate Professor Milagros (Millie) Rivera (front, extreme left), participated in a two-day workshop with the authors of the Digital Review of Asia Pacific (DiRAP), a bi-annual publication that surveys the state of ICTs in the Asia Pacific region. DiRAP, on its third edition, is a unique publication dealing with pressing issues related to ICT and development . It also contains country chapters giving an overview of what is happening in the ICT sector of more than 32 economies, including Myanmar, North Korea and the Pacific Islands. A key goal of DiRAP, besides ascertaining the state of ICTs and analyzing ICT trends in the region, is to promote ICT research capacity in the countries covered. At the March 3-4 workshop, more than 45 authors from over 30 countries had the opportunity of interacting and receiving feedback on their DiRAP chapter drafts in a mentoring exercise.
A/P Rivera has been a member of the editorial board of DiRAP since 2004. DiRAP is a project supported by the International Research Development Centre of Canada. The 2008-9 edition was launched at the GK3 Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December 2007. It was published by Sage and is available at Amazon.com. The 2009-2010 edition will be launched in the first quarter of 2009.
