CNM is honoured to host visiting scholar Professor Yvonne Spielmann. Professor Spielmann comes from the Institute of Media Research, Braunschweigh University of Art, Germany. During her two months in Singapore she will be doing research for her book on the topic East-West Interactions: Hybrid Identities in Digital Media. Specifically, Professor Spielmann wishes to research the larger Asian media development with special focus on the Digital Arts. The goal of Professor Spielmann's research is to gain insight into the culturally different constructedness of hybridity in the digital media (internet, interactive and virtual reality works) and to analyse how such conceptions of multi-facetted, virtual hybrid identifies cross and converge with culturally affirmed, traditional and dominating concepts of identity and self. Dr. Spielmann will be in Singapore until September 14, 2007.
