Name of Supervisor: Associate Professor Milagros Rivera Thesis Title: Life sciences in Singapore: An effective legislative framework for intellectual property rights Abstract: The life sciences research institutions in Singapore are in their infant stages of growth and development. Therefore, the application of IPR for this area is correspondingly young. This research paper seeks to examine the use of IPR in Singapore over the patenting of new life sciences innovations and studies if the current IPR laws adopted are compatible in sustaining development and encouraging vibrancy in this sector. It hopes to fine-tune certain legislation direction to result in a unique framework which other countries in the ASEAN region can incorporate when embarking on the quest to steer their countries in the area of life sciences research.
