Proposed Thesis Title:
Social Networking Sites: A Uses and Gratifications prespective.

Proposed Abstract:
With social networking sites (SNS) picking up steam as the latest trend on the new media scene, there is a need to understand the drivers which motivate users of SNS like Facebook, Friendster, etc.. This study posits the study of SNS in the Uses and Gratifications (U&G) framework, which explores what motivates the use of SNS and the gratifications which is derived from using SNS. Literature on the SNS, U&G and SNS examined in the U&G context will be examined in the course of the study. University students which form the bulk of SNS users will be the target study group for this dissertation.
