Proposed Thesis Title:
On Alternative space

Proposed Abstract:
The Alternative Space is an attempt to map and redefine futuristic and idealized concepts of public space, which is created subconsciously or purposely in the domain and under the influence of various media (from television and movies to upraising media of internet and computer games). The focus is on various public spaces or communities comprising intensive informational and emotional interchange: squares, market places, shopping malls, and clubs and various non-formal groups and on-line communities. Traditional social interactions still exists in the time of accelerations of informational flows and interchange, but they are heavily transformed and mutated. New technologies and media are crucial in affecting those changes and they are core elements in defining the public space. Alternative Space is study on other solutions of spatial formations that are more appropriate and comfortable with current ubiquitous media and technologies. It will examine current problems and lead us to define future problems that can occur as a cause effect of the mentioned spatial permutations. The main goal is to comprehend and seize this new nature of public spaces, the way they correspond with the surrounding and the users, and to use all relevant data in constitution of new forms of social and spatial interactions.

Research Interests:
• Media and technology impact on individual and cultural perception of utopias and alternative futuristic spaces (spatial needs, mobility and ethical use of environment, sustainability)
• Causes of contemporary discomfort and escape from real and reality (TV, movies, computer games and more)
• Mobile and location based technologies as new way of comprehension and usage of space
