ARTS STUDENTS MATRICULATED IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2001/2002

Important Notice:
CNM Major students cannot use the attached list of IT/CS modules to fulfill their
-   General Education Modules (GEM)
-   Cross-Faculty Modules (CFM)
-   Breadth (Elective outside student's Faculty-University Level Requirement)
-   Unrestricted Elective Modules outside student's major (UE)

Students are encouraged to read IT1001 and IT1002 to access higher level SoC elective modules. However, either IT1001 or IT1002 may be used to fulfill the CNM graduation requirements. Please be aware that IT1001 precludes GEK1511.

Graduation Requirements for CNM Concentrations

(A) Shared Major (B.A) : 32MC Option

Pass at least 32MC which include the following:
1.   IF1101E or NM1101E
2.   IF2101 or NM2101
3.   a minimum of 8MC from Group A1.
4.   a minimum of 8MC from Group A2.
5.   at least 12MC pure 'IF' or 'NM' prefixed modules (excluding
      IF1101E or NM1101E, IF2101 or NM2101, IF2206, and crosslisted modules).
6.   a minimum of 12MC must be from level-3000, of which 4MC may be
      replaced with a level-4000 module. [Must have at least 20MC of level-3000
      modules from both majors.]
7.   Up to 12MC may be from crosslisted modules, recognised modules from 
      other departments or approved School of Computing modules.
8.  a maximum of 8MC level-1000 modules (including IF1101E or NM1101E).

Pass at least 36MC which include the following:
1.   IF1101E or NM1101E
2.   IF2101 or NM2101
3.   a minimum of 8MC from Group A1.
4.   a minimum of 8MC from Group A2.
5.   at least 12MC pure 'IF' or 'NM' prefixed modules (excluding
      IF1101E or NM1101E, IF2101 or NM2101, IF2206, and crosslisted modules).
6.   a minimum of 12MC must be from level-3000, of which 4MC may be
      replaced with a level-4000 module. [Must have at least 20MC of level-3000
      modules from both majors.]
7.   Up to 12MC may be from crosslisted modules, recognised modules from 
      other departments or approved School of Computing modules.
8.  a maximum of 8MC level-1000 modules (including IF1101E or NM1101E).

Pass at least 56MC which include the following:
1.   IF1101E or NM1101E
2.   IF2101 or NM2101
3.   a minimum of 20MC from Group A1.
4.   a minimum of 20MC from Group A2.
5.   at least 24MC pure 'IF' or 'NM' prefixed modules (excluding
      IF1101E or NM1101E, IF2101 or NM2101, IF2206, and crosslisted modules).
6.   a minimum of 20MC must be from level-3000, of which 8MC may be
      replaced with level-4000 modules.
7.   up to 24MC may be from crosslisted modules, recognised modules from
      other departments or approved SoC modules.
8.   a maximum of 8MC level-1000 modules (including IF1101E or
      NM1101E).

Pass at least 88MC which include the following:
(1)  IF1101E or NM1101E
(2)  IF2101 or NM2101
(3)  IF4101 or NM4101
(4)  a minimum of 20MC from Group A1.
(5)  a minimum of 20MC from Group A2.
(6)  a maximum of 8MC level-1000 modules (including IF1101E or
       NM1101E).
(7)   a minimum of 48MC at level-3000, 4000 and 5000 with
       (i)   at least 12MC at level-3000
       (ii)  a minimum of 28MC at level-4000 or 5000 (excludes IF4101 or NM4101),
             of which a maximum of 8MC may be replaced with level-5000 modules.
(8)   a minimum of 40MC pure 'IF' or 'NM' prefixed modules which include
       at least 16MC at level-4000 or 5000 (excluding IF1101E or NM1101E,
       IF2101 or NM2101, IF2206, IF4101 or NM4101, crosslisted modules
       and recognised modules from other departments)
(9)   up to 36MC may be from crosslisted modules, recognised modules
       from other departments or approved SoC modules subject to a maximum
       of 12MC at level-4000 or 5000.

Note:
Honours Thesis is optional.   
To qualify for the Honours thesis, students must read and pass IF4101 or NM4101 and complete a minimum of 100 MCs with a CAP of 4.0.
