International Relations

National Silver Academy

The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary educational institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts colleges) and voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) that offer learning opportunities for seniors aged 50 and above. NUS is pleased to support this initiative. At the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, we offer short courses in areas which are more life-skills rather than work-skills oriented. This year, we are offering a course on “The Art of Classical Chinese Poetry”. Singapore Citizens aged 50 and above will be eligible for a subsidy of up to 50% off the course fee.

Faculty Members

As the Faculty continues to develop its relationships with strategic partner universities, some of the collaborative activities that we try to promote are to encourage the exchange of faculty members with our partners, to link faculties from various institutions for possible joint conferences and seminars and to explore relevant research projects. We will be listing the various partners with whom we have research collaboration as well as staff exchange agreements over the next 12 to 14 months.

Collaborative Opportunities

As a means to access the network of partners that FASS have built up over the last few years for possible collaborative opportunities, the Faculty encourages faculty members to look at the partner universities and its faculty whose research may be relevant and related to those in which you specialized and to discuss possible research projects or to organise joint conferences and seminars.

In addition, if you are a colleague from our partner universities, FASS Research Clusters also showcase some of the research profile of our faculty and our research strengths which will be of interest to you.

Fellowships for staff exchanges

The Faculty has established several visiting appointment schemes that are available to our Faculty for attachment with our partners as well as Faculty from our partner universities who may want to spend some research time at NUS. From time to time, our partners also have fellowship schemes that will fund our faculty members to spend some time at their institutions. Information will be posted here for staff.
