Module Registration for New Students - 2013/14

How to get ready for registration of modules for Semester 1

1. Decide what exposure modules you prefer to read. You should:

  • Have read the FASS Modular System for 2013 Cohort (please see "Important Notice" for more information) and/ or the NUS Bulletin 2013/2014. It is important to read and understand the "Department Degree Requirements" section.
  • It is recommended that you take the exposure module that fulfills your major/exposure requirement during your first year of study.
  • Attend the Orientation Talks on Tuesday, 30 July 2013 and Wednesday, 31 July 2013 to find out more about the various subjects offered.

2. Please have your matriculation number and PIN number (which will be given to you only on Matriculation Day itself) ready.

3. If you have any questions on the choice of exposure modules, you may contact or email the Academic Advisors listed in the FASS section in the NUS Bulletin 2013/2014 or in the departments' websites for advice.

4. You are required to fulfill University Level Requirements (ULR) comprising General Education Modules (GEM), one Singapore Studies module (SS) and Breadth modules  (electives outside student's faculty), in your candidature. For more information on ULR,  please refer to the FASS Modular System for 2012 Cohort.

5. The Faculty's recommended workload per semester is 5 modules (20 MCs). In your first semester, you should read 3 exposure modules to fulfil the Exposure requirements, a 4th exposure module from your intended major and a GEM/ Singapore Studies module.

How, when and where to register

Students must bid for modules they wish to read. Please refer to the instructions on bidding at the Centralised Online Registration System (CORS) website. You may wish to attend the briefing on CORS on Tuesday, 31 July, 1.00pm. Please refer to the schedule for Orientation Talks for New Students for more information.

Generally you should be able to bid for any modules if you have met the pre-requisites for that module. If you do not meet the stated pre-requisites but believe that you may have the equivalent, please approach the relevant department immediately after matriculation so that they evaluate your equivalent qualification and waive the stated pre-requisites before the bidding starts.
