OBJECTIVES

The Master programme is aimed at attracting the top students from Asia and beyond, and training them to engage in frontier research in economics.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A good honors degree (second class or above) in Economics is required for admission to the Master programme. Students with a good honors degree (first class or second upper) in other fields with good quantitative background, such as mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, operations research, etc, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

◦ Minimum CAP of 3.00 for the required modules;
◦ Graduate English course if applicable (at least grade C); and
◦ Pass Masters thesis.

Students in the Masters programme are required to complete a minimum of 9 modules. The essential modules are:
Level 5000
EC5101 Microeconomic Theory
EC5102 Macroeconomic Theory
EC5103 Econometric Modelling and Applications I
EC5104 Mathematical Economics
EC6770 Graduate Research Seminar (GRS)
EC6770 is graded on a “satisfactory/unsatisfactory” basis. This is a compulsory module for all research students, where students also get the opportunity to present their research papers.

INTAKE AND APPLICATION PERIOD

There is only one intake per academic year. We offer a Semester I (August) intake.
