| The Department of Geography organised
its annual Geography Careers Talk on Wednesday, 28 March 2007. In conjunction with the Talk, there was also an Open House offering displays of the Department's curriculum as well as the activities of the Geographical Society and student projects. The Open House
was held in the Earth Lab and was organised by the NUS
Geographical Society.
The Careers Talk and Open House present opportunities for undergraduates
and junior college students to learn more not just about geography
but especially the wide-ranging and excellent career prospects
available to geography graduates. The speakers for the Career
Day Talk 2007 included:
- Mr Alexander Williams, SPRING Singapore
(BA Honours in Geography, 1990)
- Ms Joey Leong, Deloitte
(BA Double major in Economics and Geography, 2000)
- Ms Sophianne Araib, Ministry of National Development
(BA Honours in Geography, 2000)
Following the individual talks, members of the audience asked
many questions pertaining to, among other things, fieldwork
skills; the value of human and physical geography in the working
world; and even the favourite subjects of the speakers when
they were undergraduates. This year, more than 300 students and teachers attended
the Careers Talk. |
