Professor Brenda Yeoh is is Professor (Provost’s Chair), Department of Geography, as well as the Vice-Dean of Research, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore.
She is also the Research Leader of the Asian Migration Cluster at the Asia Research Institute, NUS, and coordinates the Asian MetaCentre for Population and Sustainable Development Analysis.
She is currently the Editor-in-Chief for Gender, Place and Culture, and continues on the International Advisory/Editorial Boards of the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography; Cultural Geographies; Asian and Pacific Migration Journal; Gender, Technology and Development; Urban Studies; and Progress in Human Geography. She is on the Editorial/Advisory Boards of the Dictionary of Human Geography (5th Edition), NIAS’ Gendering Asia Book Series, I.B. Tauris’ Monograph Series on Historical Geography, and the ARI-Springer Asia Series.
She is deputy chair of the Commission on Population, International Geographical Union, a member of the Commission on Gender, International Geographical Union, and the Singapore coordinator for the Asia-Pacific Migration Research Network.
In 2008/2009, she is on the organising committee/panel for workshops and conference sessions on Transnational Mobilities for Care: State, Market and Family Dynamics in Asia; Migration, Societal and Market Transformations - Perceptions, Debates and Policies in Asia and Europe; Pacific World in Motion II: An interdisciplinary conference on Asian migrations; Migration and Diversity in Asian Contexts; Return Migration in Asia; and Perspectives on City Scales and Cosmopolitan Cultures. She has been appointed to the National Street and Building Names Board, and is Chair of the REACH Policy Support Workgroup on Population and Integration. Within NUS, she is a member of the Editorial Board of INNOVATION magazine (NUS Research and Technology magazine) and is one of the Directors of NUS Press. She is also a member of the University Promotion and Tenure Committee.
Within the Department, Professor Yeoh is a member of the Critical Social/Cultural Research Group.
