Associate Professor Matthias Roth is President of the International Association for Urban Climate (IAUC) since January 2007.

He holds certification as a meteorological consultant through the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS). He is a member of the editorial board of the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography.

Within the Department, Matthias is a member of the Research/Teaching Strategies and co-chair of the Teaching Strategy Sub-Committee. He is also part of the Tropical Environments Research Group; the PDF/IMMF/Visiting Scholar Scheme; and co-chair of the Undergraduate Curriculum.

He is also the Undergraduate Advisor for level-3000 modules as well as the faculty in charge of the Laboratory/Departmental Equipment. He also serves as fire warden in the Department (level 4).
