Associate Professor Shirlena Huang is Head of the Department and a member of NUS’ Senate Delegacy.

She serves on the Faculty’s Graduate Scholarships Selection Committee. She is Director of the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography and Regional Editor (Asia) of Women’s Studies International Forum.

Within the Department, Associate Professor Huang is a member of the Research/Teaching Strategies Committee, Teaching Strategy Sub-Committee and is part of the Critical Social/Cultural Research Group.

She is also the coordinator of the Student Prizes/File for Graduation committee and room allocation. She is currently on the Syllabus Development Committee for Upper Secondary Geography for the Ministry of Education.

She has been a consultant for various ministries and statutory boards, most recently the National Heritage Board.
