| BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Every year the University offers several bursaries and scholarships to students.
Geography students should take particular note of the Ong Cho Tek Memorial Bursaries awarded annually.
These bursaries are awarded to students in our Faculty, of whom one must be a Geography student.
Geography Honours year students may apply for the Ooi Jin Bee Scholarship which is awarded to one
student from the Honours class annually.
A full list of bursaries, scholarships, loans, etc. can be found in the NUS publication
Scholarships, Bursaries, Medals, Prizes, Loan Funds. Relevant forms and specific application
requirements for these monetary grants can be obtained from the Registrar or the Dean’s office
at the beginning of the academic year. Bursaries are not based on academic performance per se;
they are granted to students mainly on the basis of financial predicament and needs. Students
with financial difficulties are advised to apply for a bursary without hesitation. Scholarships,
however, are granted to students based on academic performance and participation in extra-curricular
activities in the University. All bursaries and scholarships are valued at $1,500 and $3,000 per annum
respectively. Please check with the Registrar’s Office for the closing date for applications of
scholarships and bursaries.
