An
Honours graduate of this Department, I pursued
my PhD studies at Harvard University. I returned
to teach in this Department from 1993 to 1997
before becoming the Head of the Department of
Japanese Studies from July 1997 to June 2003.
I am happy to be back in this Department again.
Beginning with a research interest in Japanese-Chinese
relations, I have expanded my research focus to
Japanese-Southeast Asian interactions. East Asian
international history and Japanese history are
my teaching areas. For pastimes, I enjoy movies,
travelling and hiking. I also like to spend time
playing with my infant god-son. A simple and happy
life is what I hope for.
