The
IT Unit serves the Faculty in two broad areas:
Information
Systems – the unit is responsible
for customising and supporting the whole spectrum of systems
required by the Faculty in its operation and administration.
Education
Development – the unit is responsible
for assisting academic staff to exploit IT in teaching,
learning, and research.
The range of services provided by the
IT Unit include, but are not limited to:

Developing and maintaining applications
and reports specific to the Faculty’s operational
and administration needs, such as Undergraduate and Graduate
Student Information Systems, Faculty Information Systems.

Providing
user support on centralised systems such as electronic document
management system, web content management system, SAP systems,
Integrated Virtual Learning Environment (IVLE). |

Assisting and supporting academic staff
in developing online and computer-based teaching and learning
materials (instructional design, course authoring, and media
integration services).

|
Conducting workshops in
the area of image creation and processing, web authoring,
video authoring, for staff and students in the Faculty. |

Maintaining web, application,
file servers and local databases in the Faculty. |

Assisting in procurement
of IT equipment or services for the Faculty. |
| |

Operating
the Faculty Multimedia Development Laboratory (MDL). The MDL
offers a complete range of services and facilities such as
document and graphics scanning, audio
and video digitising, loan of digital still/video cameras
and other video production equipment to FASS staff and students for academic purposes only. |
