REQUIREMENTS |

1. |
Students must read and pass a minimum of six modules (24 MCs), of which, one module must be at level-3000. |
|
2. |
At least two modules (8 MCs) must be taken from each of the following two groups:
Group A: History and Culture
Group B: Society and Economy |
|
3. |
One (4 MCs) of the remaining two modules required may be a Chinese language module offered by the Centre for Language Studies (CLS). |

All modules read in fulfillment of the minor requirements should be graded. Modules taken on Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis may not be counted towards the minor requirements. |

Students will be allowed to use up to 8 MCs to meet the requirements for both the minor and a major or another minor, at the same time. However, the credits for these modules will be counted ONCE. FASS students will still need to fulfill the MCs required for the UE outside major requirements. |

Students with no Chinese language background will take “LAC1201 – Chinese 1”. Students admitted directly from a polytechnic should sit for a placement test before enrolling in a Chinese language module.

Students with some knowledge of Chinese will be required to sit for a placement test before enrolling in “LAC2201 – Chinese 2” or “LAC3201 – Chinese 3”. |
| (c) |
Students with ‘O’ Level Higher Chinese or ‘AO’ Level Chinese or equivalent may take “LAC3203 – Chinese for Science and Technology”. |
