Prospective students should take note that the Master of Social Sciences (International Studies) Programme is not an evening programme and they may be required to take modules that are offered during the day.

Admission Requirements
For admission as a candidate for the degree of Master of Social Sciences (International Studies), the applicant must have obtained either:

Good NUS Honours degree (second class and above) or equivalent (e.g., a four-year Bachelors degree with at least an average grade of B or equivalent) in the subject or related field; or |
|
2. |
A good Bachleors degree (at least an average grade of B or equivalent) in the subject or related field and a minimum Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test score of 1200 points for the Verbal and Quantitative sections and 3.5 for the Analytical section, taken no earlier than 5 years before the date of application; or exceptionally, |

Other qualifications and experience subject to approval by the Board of Graduate Studies. |

TOFEL requirement |
Applicants whose native tongue or medium of undergraduate instruction is not English should submit TOEFL scores as evidence of their proficiency in the English Language. The minimum score is 580 points or its equivalent. |
Undergraduate Module(s) Requirement

Successful applicants with no/weak background in International Studies will be required to read undergraduate (preparatory) module(s). |

Students are required to obtain a minimum grade of B- for each module. Should the student fail to obtain the minimum grade, his/her candidature will be terminated immediately. |

Students will have to read the undergraduate module(s) concurrently with their postgraduate modules. |
|
• |
The undergraduate modules are offered during the day. |

Duration of Course
The minimum period of candidature for the programme is 12 months of full-time study or 24 months of part-time study from the commencement. The maximum period of candidature is 36 months of full-time study or 48 months of part-time study from the commencement of the programme, inclusive of approved leave of absence and medical leave.
