The programme serves to equip you with intellectual and some practical training for a variety of careers that needs to draw expertise from International Relations, International Economics and Development Studies. If I already have a Master degree, am I eligible to apply for the programme? |
|
Yes, provided that the Masters’ degree is related to International Studies. |

What is the difference between full-time and part-time study and how long would it take to complete the course? |
|
You may pursue the M.Soc.Sci. (International Studies) on a full-time or part-time basis. The difference between a full-time and part-time course is the number of modules each group is allowed to take per semester. Full-time students can take up to a maximum of 5 modules and part-time students 3.
The minimum period of candidature is 12 months of full-time study or 24 months of part-time study. The maximum period of candidature is 36 months of full-time study or 48 months of part-time study from the commencement of the programme, inclusive of approved leave of absence and medical leave. |

How much does it cost for full-time and part-time study in your Master’s Programme? |
|
The tuition fees per annum for academic year 2008-2009 is as follows:
• Singapore Citizens: S$5,890 (Full-Time), S$2.950 (Part-Time)
• Singapore Permanent Residents: S$6,480 (Full-Time), S$3,240 (Part-Time)
• Foreigners: S$14,730 (Full-Time), S$7,370 (Part-Time)

Is there any scholarship available for International Studies Programme? |

The scholarship available for our programme is the NUS ASEAN Graduate Scholarship. This scholarship is only available for citizens or permanent residents of member countries of ASEAN. The application form carries an option for students who would like to apply for the scholarship. More information on scholarships can be found here. |

Admission into our programme depends on the quality of the application. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not imply automatic acceptance into the programme. |

I wonder whether you might accept my application sent by fax? |
|
We do not accept application through fax or email. This is because we require the documents to be original or certified true copy. |

Where can I get the application materials for the NUS Masters' programme in International Studies? |
|
Applications for admission to graduate coursework programmes, are available online as well as via paper. You are advised to apply online. Please note that even though an application is submitted online, relevant supporting documents must be sent via post.

Do I need to submit Graduate Record Exam score to apply for the programme? |

Graduate Record Examination score is required if you do not have a honours degree or 4 year bachelors degree. |

Regarding source of finance, can my CPF savings be used for full payment of the course fees? |

You would not be able to utilise your CPF savings for the payment of the course fees. |

What is the typical workload in each module? |
|
Each module will consist of a minimum of three hours of lectures/tutorials per week. Assessment for each module will be based on a combination of written examination and continuous assessments. |
