Logic is an indispensible tool for reasoning and a fascinating subject in its own right. Through examples from philosophy and elsewhere, the course will introduce how to recognise good and bad arguments and avoid common argumentatitive fallacies. The course will also cover the major kinds of inductive argument and some systematic techniques for evaluating deductive arguments such as truth-tables and venn diagrams. Finally, we’ll apply what we’ve learnt to the evaluation of arguments from philosophy, science and current affairs.
