Applicants for the degree of Ph.D. in Philosophy should have an M.A. in Philosophy from NUS or equivalent qualifications from a recognized foreign university. For cohorts 2004 onwards, the program involves reading six coursework modules and writing a thesis (of up to eighty thousand words) on a topic approved of by the department. The thesis is expected to be an original piece of research and should be submitted within five years of the date of admission into the program.
