Cohort 2007|Cohorts 2001-6|Honors thesis|ISM

 

Single Major [B.A. (Hons.)] 2007

(Declare an Honours track, after completing 110 MCs, including 60 MCs in the Major, with a CAP of 3.5 and above.)
Pass at least 100 MCs of PH modules or PH-recognised modules, which include:
1. PH1101E Reason and Persuasion;
2. PH2110 Logic; and
3. A minimum of 60 MCs at level-3000 or higher, of which a minimum of 40 MCs at level-4000 of higher.
4. A maximum of 2 PH modules at level-5000 (subject to department’s approval).

Single Major [B.A. (Hons)] 2001-2006

Pass at least 84 MC of PH modules or PH-recognised modules which include:
1. PH1101E Reason and Persuasion;
2. PH2110 Logic; and
3. 
A minimum of 48 MCs at level-3000 or higher, with a minimum of 7 modules (with at least 28 MCs) at level-4000 or higher
4. A maximum of 2 PH modules at level-5000 (subject to department’s approval).

The Honors Thesis

The Honours Thesis (HT) will be worth 15 MCs (equal to 3 modules) with effect from Semester 1, AY2009/2010.

PH4401 Honours Thesis is optional. To qualify for the Honours Thesis, students must:

Cohort 2007: (1) Must be on Honors Track.


Cohort 2004-2006: (1) Complete at least 100 MC including 56MC of PH major requirements and (2) Obtain one of the following minimum standards at the point of registration (a) minimum CAP of 4.0 or (b) minimum SJAP of 4.0 and CAP of 3.5


Cohort 2002 & 2003: (1) Complete at least 100 MC (including 3 Level-4000 PH modules), and (2) Obtain one of the following minimum standards at the point of registration: (a) minimum CAP of 4.0 or (b) minimum SJAP (based on 56MC of PH major requirements) of 4.0 and CAP of 3.5.


Cohort 2001: Complete 100 MC (including 3 Level-4000 PH modules) with a minimum CAP of 4.0.

Independent Study Module

Students may do the Independent Studies Module (PH 4660) if they are NOT doing the Honors thesis (that is, PH4660 precludes PH4401 and PH4401S). To register for PH 4660, a student must obtain the agreement of a faculty member to supervise an approved topic of study. A written agreement between student and supervisor must be submitted for the Head of Department’s approval. The form of the agreement can be downloaded here.
