Graduation Criteria for Cohorts 2004


Shared Major (B.A.)

Accumulate at least 28 MCs of PS or PS recognised modules which include the following:

  1. Read and pass PS1101E Introduction to Political Science/Introduction to Politics,

  2. Read and pass a minimum of 12 MCs of level 2000 modules which includes PS2101/PS2249 Government and Politics of Singapore, and PS2102 Political Inquiry: An Introduction/ PS3257 Political Inquiry.

  3. Read and pass a minimum of another 12 MCs of level 3000 PS modules, with a least 20 MCs of level 3000 modules from both majors.

* JS2223 Government and Politics of Japan can be used to fulfill a level-2000 PS module equivalent.


Single Major (B.A.)

Accumulate at least 56 MCs of PS or PS recognised modules which include the following:

  1. Read and pass PS1101E Introduction to Political Science/Introduction to Politics.

  2. Read and pass a minimum of 12 MCs of level 2000 modules which includes PS2101/PS2249 Government and Politics of Singapore and
    PS2102 Political Inquiry: An Introduction/PS3257 Political Inquiry.

  3. Read and pass a minimum of another 40 MCs of which at least 20 MCs must be from level 3000 or higher approved PS modules.

* JS2223 Government and Politics of Japan can be used to fulfill a level-2000 PS module equivalent.


Single Major [B.Soc.Sci. (Hons)] 

Accumulate at least 84 MCs of PS or PS recognised modules which include the following:

  1. Read and pass PS1101E Introduction to Political Science/Introduction to Politics.

  2. Read and pass a minimum of 12 MCs of level 2000 modules which includes PS2101/PS2249 Government and Politics of Singapore and
    PS2102 Political Inquiry: An Introduction/PS3257 Political Inquiry.

  3. Read and pass a minimum of another 72 MCs of which at least 20 MCs must be from level 3000 or higher PS modules, and at least 7 modules (with at least 28 MCs) at level 4000 or higher approved PS modules.

  4. A maximum of 2 level-5000 PS modules (subject to Department's approval).

* JS2223 Government and Politics of Japan can be used to fulfill a level-2000 PS module equivalent.
