Graduation Criteria for Cohorts 2005 & 2006


Shared Major (B.A.)

Accumulate at least 28 MCs of PS or PS recognised modules, which include the following:

1.

Read and pass the following modules:

PS1101E Introduction to Political Science/Introduction to Politics

and


PS3257 Political Inquiry or PS2102 Political Inquiry: An Introduction

 

 

2.

Read and pass 16 MCs of PS modules, of which:

 

 

 

(i) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Comparative Politics (CP)" modules

 

(ii) 4 MCs from modules classified as "International Relations (IR)" modules

 

(iii) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Political Theory" (PT) modules

 

(iv) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Public Administration (PA)" modules

 

 

3.

Read and pass a minimum of 4 MCs of PS modules from the Singapore Politics basket (this can be used to fulfill the above requirement as well):

 

 

 

PS2249 Government and Politics of Singapore (CP)

 

PS2244 Public Administration in Singapore (PA)

 

PS3249 Singapore's Foreign Policy (IR)

 

PS3255 Public Morality in Singapore (PT)

 

PS4211 Public Policy and Governance in Singapore (PA)

 

 

4.

Read and pass a minimum of 12 MCs of level-2000 PS modules (including modules from 1, 2 and 3 above)(see note).

 

 

5.

Read and pass a minimum of 12 MCs of level-3000 or higher PS modules (including modules from 1, 2 and 3 above), with at least 20 MCs from both majors.


Note:
* JS2223 (Government and Politics of Japan) can be used to fulfill a level-2000 PS module equivalent.

Single Major (B.A)


Accumulate at least 56 MCs of PS or PS recognised modules, which include the following:

1.

Read and pass the following modules:

PS1101E Introduction to Political Science/Introduction to Politics

and

PS3257 Political Inquiry or PS2102 Political Inquiry: An Introduction

2.

Read and pass 16 MCs of PS modules, of which:

 

 

 

(i) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Comparative Politics (CP)" modules

 

(ii) 4 MCs from modules classified as "International Relations (IR)" modules

 

(iii) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Political Theory (PT)" modules

Read and pass a minimum of 20 MCs of level-3000 or higher PS modules (including modules from 1, 2 and 3 above).

Single Major [B.Soc.Sci.(Hons)]

Accumulate at least 84 MCs of PS or PS recognised modules, which include the following:

1.

Read and pass the following modules:

PS1101E Introduction to Political Science/Introduction to Politics

and

PS3257 Political Inquiry or PS2102 Political Inquiry: An Introduction

2.

Read and pass 16 MCs of PS modules, of which:

 

 

 

(i) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Comparative Politics (CP)" modules

 

(ii) 4 MCs from modules classified as "International Relations (IR)" modules

 

(iii) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Political Theory (PT)" modules

 

(iv) 4 MCs from modules classified as "Public Administration (PA)" modules

 

 

3.

Read and pass a minimum of 4 MCs of PS modules from the Singapore Politics basket (this can be used to fulfill the above requirement as well):

 

 

 

PS2249 Government and Politics of Singapore (CP)

4.

Read and pass a minimum of 20 MCs of level-2000 PS modules (including modules from 1, 2 and 3 above) (see note).

 

 

5.

Read and pass a minimum of 20 MCs of level-3000 or higher PS modules (including modules from 1, 2 and 3 above).

 

 

6.

A minimum of 7 modules (with at least 28 MCs) of level-4000 PS modules or higher approved PS modules (including modules from 1, 2 and 3 above).

 

 

7.

A maximum of 2 level-5000 PS modules (subject to department's approval).

Note:
* JS2223 Government and Politics of Japan can be used to fulfill a level-2000 PS module equivalent.
