FINANCIAL AID
To ensure that no students are deprived of the opportunity to study in NUS due to financial difficulties, the University and the Faculty have put in place various Financial Aid schemes for the needy students.
Needy FASS students are advised to apply for the financial aid packages from the University (via Office of Financial Aid) in the first instance. As long as they meet the criteria, the University is committed to help all needy students. Depending on their circumstances, the Office of Financial Aid may provide them with additional help. This may come in the form of the interest-free NUS Study Loan or Subsistence Loan. You may wish to refer such students to the following website for more information: http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/scholarships-financialaid/financialaid/financial-index.html
For needy students who not eligible for the University Bursary for valid reasons, the Faculty also offers a range of financial aid. A range of bursaries such as FASS Student Advancement Bursaries, LBKM-THK Social Service Bursary, Singapore Lions Clubs' bursary are available to FASS needy students. In particular, the LBKM-THK Social Service Bursary is targeting at graduate students and final year undergraduate students from the Psychology, Social Work and Sociology Departments, though it is also open to FASS graduate students and final year undergraduate students outside of the Psychology, Social Work and Sociology Departments, who are actively involved in social service activities. For students who face an unexpected or sudden financial crisis (such as the sudden loss of the sole breadwinner in the family), they may apply for the FASS Advancement Emergency Aid fund. This is a quick help that the Faculty is able to provide within days to the students concerned.
