MODULE LISTING BY SUB-FIELDS
The Political Science Department offers more than 60 modules classified under 4 main subfields: Comparative Politics, International Relations, Public Administration, and Political Theory. Students are encouraged to specialise in one or two subfields, although it is quite possible to choose not to specialise in any particular subfields. To help students decide on their specialisation, the Department provides 'Introduction to...' modules for each subfield at Level 2000 (for Political Theory, the introductory modules are 'Western Political Theory' and 'Eastern Political Theory'). Students are encouraged to read these introductory modules in order to make informed choices. Students are also encouraged to consult their Faculty Level Advisors [Click here] and the Peer Programme for advice on the best 'paths' towards specialisation. It briefly explains the scope and components of each of the four sub-fields (political theory, comparative politics, international relations and public administration) and familiarises students with the major issues and arguments related to power, justice, political culture, national identity, accountability, ethics and world order. It also focuses on key political institutions. The module will be of interest to students across the university who want to gain a basic understanding of politics. |
