Subjects Offered
The Faculty offers a wide range of academic subjects encompassing traditional disciplines and multidisciplinary programmes in three divisions – Asian Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences.
In addition, the Faculty's Office of Programmes hosts multidisciplinary, cross-departmental programmes, namely, European Studies, American Studies and International Studies. The Faculty's Centre for Language Studies offers language instruction in Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Malay, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese. Although the American Studies Programme and Centre for Language Studies do not offer any major programmes, their modules are offered to students as electives.

Modular System
The Faculty operates on a Modular System in which students read modules and gain modular credits. A module is taught over one semester. There are two main semesters a year. In addition, there are 2 terms of 6 weeks known as the Special Terms that add flexibility to the pace at which students can complete their degree requirements. Please refer to the left side of this page for more information on the Academic Year. For more information on the modular system, please refer to this page.
Provisions are also made to enable students to study for at least a semester abroad or at a local university, with the approval of the Dean, to further enhance their learning experience. This is made possible by the Student Exchange Programme. Credit transfer is given towards the fulfillment of degree requirements for approved coursework undertaken at the partner university.
