Freshmen Seminars

Get up close and personal with your lecturers in Freshman Seminars!

Explore concepts that cross discipline boundaries and hold discussions in small-class settings with no more than 15 students. This semester, lecturers will lead discussions on the history and myths of chinatowns, the role of "spirituality" and beliefs in life decisions, the social construction of romantic love, humour, and the cause and effect of migration.

With such fascinating subjects, how can you not enroll in a Freshman Seminar this semester? Be quick, spaces are limited!

Writing Modules

Learn how to put forth a coherent and well-thought out argument through the newly introduced writing modules! Through examining thought-provoking issues, be trained to develop sound arguments and how best to bring across your views. Choose from one of the two modules below and be on your way to writing better.

Career Preparation

In collaboration with the NUS Career Centre, students are offered an array of career preparation services that stand them in excellent stead when they graduate.

Career Foundation Series

Get the basics from the get-go! First-year students are encourages to attend a five-year course career foundation series during their long vacation. These modules provide a firm foundation to prepare students for life after university. Resume writing, interview skills and business etiquette are some of the skills you will learn in this series.

Career Advisory Service

A career coach (from the NUS Career Centre and attached to FASS) is on-hand to offer one-to-one sessions or group consultations. Just make an appointment for any career advice, a helping hand or listening ear.

FASSTalk

Specially organised for FASS Students, FASSTalk brings dynamic and highly successful industry insiders to the Faculty to talk to you! Look forward to speakers from fields such as journalism, public relations, finance and tourism, who will share the secrets to their success.
