I am interested in social, cognitive, and motor development plus various areas of cognitive psychology, especially short-term memory and evolutionary psychology. I also have a number of applied interests, e.g. industrial safety, applications of psychology in the Police Force.

Research Interests:
  • Psychological factors in industrial safety
  • The biological and evolutionary basis of behaviour
  • The development of cognitive and mathematical skills and strategies in children, particularly the effects of linguistic and cultural variation on such development
  • The nature and evolution of hand function, and the measurement and prediction of manual dexterity
