Speakers:

  • Prof. Lai Chi Tim (PhD, Chicago) Head, Graduate Division of Religious Studies; Director, Centre for the Studies of Daoist Culture, Chinese University of Hong Kong and
  • A/P Soo Khin Wah (PhD, British Columbia) Department of Chinese Studies, University of Malaya.

The speakers would be presenting two papers: Daoism in Hong Kong and China Today and Studies on Chinese Popular Religion in North America respectively.

The Workshop aims at illustrating the pervasiveness of Chinese religions overseas and reflects on the hybridity of Chinese cultures in an increasingly globalized world.

This Workshop would add immense value to the research objectives of the cluster on religion where one of the prime the focus is to understand variant religious systems and their effects on the socio-cultural life of the populace in Southeast Asia.
