Panel Discussion:
Progressive Muslim Movements: The Turkish Case

The objective of the panel discussion on was to provide a forum for inter-faith dialogue in Singapore.

By illustrating the case of Turkey, Prof.Abu-Rabi and Prof. Hadsell presented both the traditionalist and the modernist strands of Islam of Islam. The panel discussion led to an understanding of the both the syncretic and the extremist strands within Islam and underlined the need for dialogue to explore the various kinds of extremism in different faiths and emphasized the significance of inter-faith discussions in the contemporary world.

The panel successfully used the forum provided by the religion research cluster and contributed to enriching the dialogue between people professing different faiths.
