Local SEP

Introduction
Students can participate in the local exchange arrangement between NUS, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University . This is a local version of SEP which allows students are able to experience a different academic life in another local university for 6 months.

 

Application for Local Exchange

All announcement for local exchange will be advertised on the Study Abroad @ FASS blog. And students will also be notified through emails.

Please note the general criteria for application:

  1. A CAP is at least 3.0 and above. ( This is only a minimum requirements)
  2. Must not be your graduating semester.

Please do note that if you withdraw after accepting the offer for exchange; to recognize the time and effort that goes into the application and selection process, there will be an admin fee of $200 imposed.

Module mapping and credit transfer processes for local exchanges are exactly the same as overseas exchange.

 

Information about NTU

NTU course are assigned credits based on Academic Unit System. You may wish to learn more about NTU curriculum structure. You may wish to browse NTU course content. Please choose a similar semster in the previous academic year as a reference for courses that will be offered.

Important:
Course approvals by NTU are subjected to vacancies availability/ clashes in class and exam time table and pre-requisites. Specific NTU courses ( offered by Nanyang Business School) are very popular and priority is not given to local exchange students.

NUS Overseas College (NOC) Programme

Introduction

NUS Overseas College (NOC) programme aims to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of students. During the 1-year programme, students intern in a technology-based start-up company and take up courses part-time in reputable universities.

NUS Overseas College (NOC) programme aims to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of students. During the 1-year programme, students intern in a technology-based start-up company and take up courses part-time in reputable universities.

Eligibility

Students, regardless of major, can apply for the programme if they have completed four semesters of studies and obtained at least 80 MC. Students are also required to spend at least one regular semester in NUS upon their return from the programme.

If you wish to apply for the full year NOC, please do so in your 2nd year at NUS so that you will be able to head out in your 3rd year. Students who apply for NOC in their semester 1r, 3rd year will only be allowed to go for half year NOC programme if they are unable and unwilling to proceed to Honours.

To qualify to read discipline modules, students must obtain a minimum CAP of 3.5 and above. They are to seek permission from the relevant departments on the mapping of discipline modules.

Limitations

Students can use the internship and entrepreneurial modules only to fulfil either their Breadth or Unrestricted Electives outside the Major requirements.

Summer/ Winter Programme Module Mapping

Modules read during overseas Summer/ Winter programmes may be approved for credit transfer (up to 12-MC NUS tuition fee waiver) for FASS students. If you wish to do so, please follow the instructions below.

Please be reminded that all FASS credit transfer processing are based on the FASS MC exchange ratio regardless of the faculty or department that approves the module mapping. You are to calculate the number of MC transferrable prior your summer/ winter programmes. No additional MC will be granted should you mis-calculate or overlook the MC exchange ratio.

As this is a transitional period for summer school module mapping requests to be done through your SIS records, please kindly follow the revised instructions with immediate effect:

  1. Log onto your SIS account to check if you are able to submit the online summer school module mapping worksheet. If you are able to do so, you are NOT required to submit the hardcopy request via email.
  2. If you are unable to submit any module mapping worksheets through your SIS account, please kindly follow the module mapping procedures listed below. 
FASS-related modules

Please use the FASS module mapping form and write to the relevant department SEP coordinators or department SEP administrators for module mapping approval.

Please kindly use the FASS module mapping form for each of the module you wish to map, i.e. one module mapping per form.

Please ensure that all module mapping approvals in either email form or hard copy form must be retained for records as they are required for credit transfer submission after your programmes.

1. How many credits is this course rated at the host University?
2. How many host university credits does FASS require you to do in a semester at the host university?
3. Which academic year and semester are you going for Summer school?

 

Business related module

Please note that NUS Business School no longer uses the Pre-approved Master Module List for module mapping.

Please complete the BBA module mapping form and email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. It will be forwarded to business school for approval. Please note that approval time may be up to 2 months.

 

GEM modules

Only applicable to students admitted before AY2015/16

If you have a GEM A or B that is not yet fulfilled at NUS, you may map an overseas course to meet the GEM requirements. Please refer to this link on the proper procedures to map GEMs.

 

Summer/ Winter Programme Credit Transfer

Please kindly submit your summer/ winter programme credit transfer documents to Ms Catherine Lee or Ms Letitia Thng/ Ms Jane Toh within 2 weeks upon receiving your official transcript from the host university. Credit transfer is a long administrative process which may take up to 2 months due to large volumes of such transfers for SEP and summer/ winter programmes. Hence, it is important that you submit your documents in order and early as incomplete documents will cause a further delay in the entire credit transfer processing.

Please be reminded that all FASS credit transfer processing are based on the FASS MC exchange ratio regardless of the faculty or department that approved the module mapping. You are to calculate the number of MC transferrable prior your summer/ winter programmes. If you did not do so and result in any MC shortfall, no additional MC will be granted should you mis-calculate or overlook the MC exchange ratio.

Please submit the following documents:
a. Credit Transfer Form
b. Copy of the official transcript from the host university (please do not submit the original transcript as you may need it for your future job or further studies applications)
c. Copies of all your approved module mapping forms and other forms of email approval

You can submit the hardcopies to us at AS7 Level 6, International Relations Division. You can also drop off your documents in the "Summer Programmes" mailbox outside AS7 Level 5 lift lobby after office hours.

You can check your NUS Integrated Student Information System (SIS) if your credits are transferred successfully after about 2 months. Due to the large volume of credit transfer documents received, we are unable to notifiy each student individually when the process is completed and we seek your kind understanding on this matter.

Under the SIS, click on "Campus Community", followed by "Student Service Centre" and choose the tab on "Credit Transfer" to view the modules that you have transferred back successfully.
