She is active in research on sociolinguistics and second language acquisition, with a focus on Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. She has written several journal articles related to second language acquisition, IT learning and sociolinguistics in the content of Singapore. She has recently published an article in Chinese entitled “A Sociolinguistic Study of Chinese Language Learning in Singapore”. She is also a member of the Chinese Language Curriculum and Pedagogy Review Committee of the Singapore Ministry of Education. She is a member of the Editorial Board of e-FLT, the Electronic Journal of Foreign Language Learning.
