Before coming to Singapore in December 1999 he worked for 5 years in the Economics Section of the German Institute for Japanese Studies (DIJ) in Tokyo. A/P Meyer-Ohle received his academic degrees from Philipps-University Marburg (Germany). He has published on aspects of Japan’s consumer goods distribution as well as other areas of business and management in Japan.
A/P Meyer-Ohle teaches modules related to Business, Management and Marketing in Japan. In his modules, he tries to combine managerial aspects with sociological aspects. One example of this approach is his module “JS2225 Marketing and Consumer Culture in Japan”. In addition A/P Meyer-Ohle also participates in teaching the foundational modules in the Department of Japanese Studies, such as “JS1101e Introduction to Japanese Studies” or “JS2101 Approaches to Japanese Studies”.
A/P Meyer-Ohle is currently also the Deputy Head of the Department of Japanese Studies as well as Assistant Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
