| Undergraduate Programme - Honours |
|
|
| THE HONOURS CLASS
Our Honours year students are part of the SEASP community, able to interact regularly with graduate students and faculty. Honours year students may take a limited number of modules from the graduate programme. Class sizes are small and allow scope for lively discussion.
One option which we encourage for those Honours students who qualify is to write an Honours Thesis (see the qualification requirements here). The thesis allows students to carry out in-depth work on a topic of their choice, working with the advice of a faculty member. The thesis is worth 12 MC, and thus forms a significant part of your Honours year. Students who do not write an Honours Thesis may still gain some research experience by electing to take an Independent Study Module.
Many of our students choose to conduct part of their research in other parts of Southeast Asia, and the Programme has funds available to support their travel. Students have carried out fieldwork in places such as Riau, Sarawak and Kelantan, as well as many other locations. Honours students also often use their language skills to access materials in languages other than English, further enriching the scope of their studies.
