FASS Summer School: "Southeast Asia in Context"

This unique programme will bring together students from from NUS, Yale University, University of Copenhagen, and other universities in two special five-week programme that will blend classroom lectures with field study excursions to sites in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The 2009 NUS-IARU Summer School offers a two-tier summer school programme at the introductory and advanced levels:

Introductory level
Students are required to take SE2222 Southeast Asia in Context (compulsory module) and choose between SE2880 Topics in Southeast Asian Studies and SE2880A Southeast Asia’s Cultural Mosaic as an elective module. Destinations for the 10-day fieldtrip are Cambodia and Thailand.

Advanced level
Students are required to take two modules, SE3214 Marketing Southeast Asia’s Heritage and SE3221 Traditional Music in a Southeast Asian Country. The 10-day fieldtrip destination is Java, Indonesia.
