Who Are We?

Planning for the Asia-Pacific Childhoods Conference began in 2004, with a meeting of a preliminary Scientific Committee , hosted by the Department of Sociology and Asia Research Institute and Asian MetaCentre for Population and Sustainable Development Analysis of the National University of Singapore. The Scientific Committee comprised international researchers in children and childhood, almost all of whom are either nationals of Asian countries or have research interests in the region.

At this meeting, entitled "The ethnography of childhood revisited", the Scientific Committee drew up a plan for the 2006 Conference, which has been implemented through a local Organizing Committee including representation from the main departments and institutes in the University.
