| Important Notice : Alternate Essentials Requirements for Sociology Single Major Students Admitted From AY 2005 |

This is a gentle reminder on the alternate essentials requirement for students admitted from AY 2005, who declared Sociology as their single major.
The important points on the alternate essentials and the major graduation requirements are outlined below.
| For B.A degree |
| Pass at least 56MCs of SC modules, which must include all of the following: |
| 1) SC1101E Making Sense of Society; |
| 2) SC2101 Methods of Social Research; |
| 3) SC3101 Social Thought and Social Theory;and |
| 4) A minimum of 24MCs of level 3000 or higher level approved SC modules which include |
| i) SC3101 Social Thought and Social Theory; and |
| ii) At least one alternate essential module from the basket of methodology modules : |
SC3209 Data Analysis in Social Research

SC3213 Ethnographic Analysis of Visual Media
|
SC3221 Qualitative Inquiry
|
| For B.Soc.Sci. (Honours) degree |
| Pass at least 88MCs of SC modules, which must include all of the following: |
| 1) SC1101E Making Sense of Society; |
| 2) SC2101 Methods of Social Research; |
3) SC3101 Social Thought and Social Theory; and |
| 4) A minimum of 24MCs of level 3000 or higher level approved SC modules which include |
| i) SC3101 Social Thought and Social Theory; and |
| ii) At least one alternate essential module from the basket of methodology modules : |

SC3221 Qualitative Inquiry

| 5) A minimum of 32MCs of level 4000 or higher level approved SC modules which may include the Honours Thesis (equivalent to 12MCs) |
