Simon Fraser University (SFU) Summer School

The Department of Sociology at NUS hosted the Simon Fraser University field school from Canada, in May  2004. The SFU field school takes place every two years and is intended for upper level students with interests in Anthropology and Sociology of SE Asia. Students began the field school in Singapore, then spend seven weeks in Thailand and finish with a three-week stay in Vietnam. The field school includes lectures, tutorials, and field trips to museums, archaeological and historical sites, and rural communities. Lectures will provide an overview of society in Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam with particular reference to minority peoples and traditional arts. The SFU field school is available by arrangement for NUS students who wish to pursue research that could contribute to their honours or graduate programme.
