Special Degree Programmes with External Universities

The Faculty has in the last few years been working with external partner universities to develop joint and double degree programmes both at the undergraduate as well as at graduate level. These programmes represent a well-thought out pedagogical basis and curriculum to take advantage of the complementary academic strengths of our partner universities and couple with those of NUS to the advantage of our students.

Joint PhD Studies with King's College, University of London
The two Schools Arts & Humanities (A&H) and Social Science & Public Policy (SSPP) at King's College London (KCL) and FASS inked an agreement for a Joint PhD programme (JDP) in April 2009. Starting from academic year 2010/2011, we are recruiting students for the programme. This JDP represents a good mix of strength from both universities to enhance the training and research work of PhD candidates from both institutions. This programme allows students to pursue work in a wide range of humanities and social science disciplines as well as in topics that invite interdisciplinary approaches. The schools and faculty complement each other in terms of areas of strength and of geographical location. Students will be registered in one home university, but guided in their work by faculty from both, and examined to the standards of both. They will graduate with a joint qualification, earning a certificate which bears the crests of both universities.
