Research Associate, SSR (Full-time)

Social Service Research Centre (SSR) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore (NUS), would like to invite suitable candidates to apply for a full‐time position as Research Associate with the Centre.

SSR was established as a Faculty-level research centre in April 2015 in NUS. We are dedicated to promote and test social innovations and help evolve a new social service infrastructure for Singapore's next phase of social development. As the only entity dedicated to research on social interventions in Singapore, SSR is the focal point of rigorous applied research, working in tandem with social service leaders in government, civil society, and private philanthropic institutions to critic, test-bed and facilitate large-scale, community-based service innovations through a variety of methods including programme evaluation and social analytics.
Job Description
The Research Associate will have the opportunity to work with different teams of academic, field practitioners, government and non-governmental agencies in a variety of research projects. He or she is expected to contribute to the Centre’s growing range of research projects, research training programs, and capability development of the social service sector.

Job Requirements:
The candidate should possess the following:
1. A Masters from a recognized university in a Social Science, Social Policy, Program Evaluation or related discipline;

2. At least five years of work experience, with at least three years in program evaluation and social service research;

3. Familiarity with Singapore’s social service sector;

4. An aptitude for and relevant experience in collaborative as well as independent applied social science research;

5. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Research Fellow, SSR (Full-time)

Job Description

Specifically, the incumbent Research Fellow might be tasked to oversee a new initiative to pool a team of research executives servicing different sector organizations.

Job Requirements:
1. A Ph.D. from a recognized university in a Social Science, Social Policy, Program Evaluation or related discipline;

2. An aptitude for and relevant experience in collaborative as well as independent applied social science research;

3. Excellent written and spoken communication skills;

4. Strong research and publication record, and familiarity with Singapore’s social service sector an advantage.

Research Associate/ Research Fellow (Full-time)

Project Title
Enhancing Positive Outcomes in Youth Offenders and the Community (EPYC) Study Project Information
The research officer will join a multi-Agency national longitudinal research project. The project focuses on the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth offenders in Singapore. The target sample is youth offenders and youth at risk. The study will examine the interaction between developmental and environmental factors with regard to offending, and investigates the influence of these factors on successful rehabilitation and reintegration of youth into society.
Job Description and Responsibilities
The Research Associate/ Fellow will perform a crucial role in managing the data-related tasks in the study.

The research officer will:
• Provide leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of Research Data Management
• Conduct data analysis and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Prepare research reports and publications
• Undertake administrative tasks related to the research project
• Participate in research related activities (seminars, workshops, etc.)

Requirements:
• A Master’s degree in relevant areas, degree by research or at least two years’ experience in large scale research projects
• Proficient in data-related tasks
• Excellent scientific writing skills
• Excellent in quantitative research methods (such as SEM) and proficient in the use of SPSS or other software such as R, Mplus, Stata.
• Excellent work planning and time management skills
• Able to multi-task and work under pressure in a changing environment
• Good communication skills (e.g. inter-personal skills, ability to present findings to different stakeholders)
• Strong interest in research in the forensic and rehabilitation field
• Self-motivated: Able to work well both independently and as a member of a team
• Passion for high-impact research

Preferred:
• PhD in quantitative psychology
• Research experience in longitudinal studies
• Publications in scientific journals

Student Research Assistant (Part-time)

The Social Service Research (SSR) Centre in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science, NUS, is recruiting student research assistants (part-time) for various research projects within the Centre.

The projects and job tasks may include:
1. Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) to start up research projects in the Centre.
2. Perform literature review and environmental scans for research projects
3. Support SSR in the administrative and finance matters of research projects.
4. Assist in surveys and focus group discussions
5. Assist in data cleaning and perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis
6. Assist in coordination of the project with survey company and voluntary welfare organization
7. Help with writing of articles and reports
