FASSTalks are events related to career preparation.
FASS Alumni-Student Networking -- At such events, alumni and industry leaders are invited back to dispense career preparation tips. They usually consist of a panel discussion followed by networking sessions with panelists and additional non-panelists alumni. These signature events organised together with the Centre for Future-ready Graduates. Recent Networking events include:
- FASS Career Day is held in August/September. The last FASS Career Day was held on 1 September. It consists of a whole day of activities relating to career preparation, including "An Internship For Me?" by the Vice-Dean, mock interview session by an employer, branding and image workshops, and culminating in a panel discussion by alumni in the HR profession. The most recent FASS Career Day was on 1 September 2016.
- ARTSConnect is held in October. It is targetted towards students in NUS who aspire to a career in the Arts and Entertainment industries. The first ArtsConnect was held on 1 October 2016 at the NUS Cultural Centre. It was held in collaboration with the Centre for Future-ready Graduates, Centre for the Arts and NUS-Yale College, consisted of a panel discussion and networking with additional members of the community.
- Aluminate is the newest FASSTalk in this format. 6 panelists and 6 non-penalists shared advice on transitioning between student and working adult. Alumnate was held on 9 Mar 2017.
FASS Departments also organise their own career talks. For example, the Departments of Chinese Studies, Economics, Geography, History and Philosophy organize annual talks featuring their alumni from diverse sectors. Look out for posters and emails on these events sent by the Departments to its majors, or check with the general offices of respective departments for their upcoming events.
In addition, employers who wish to recruit FASS students may hold talks at our premises. These are subject to approval.
