FASS Student Advancement Emergency Aid


This emergency aid aims to help students who face unexpected sudden financial crises and require immediate help. It is intended only for the short term, to tide students over until the end of the current semester. Students can only apply for this once.

Application period

Any time

Value of award

Actual amount of aid will be determined by an assessment of student's financial need, up to a maximum of S$1000/-.

Disbursement

2 weeks after Faculty's approval, through student's NUS account

Eligibility

  • FASS students who are Singapore citizens or PR.
  • Who made satisfactory progress towards completion of their academic program.
  • Who are unable to continue their education without aid.

Application Process

  • Students are required to complete the online form.
  • Print the completed online form FASS45-06 and together with the supporting documents, must be submitted personally, to the Dean's Office at AS7 level 5, within the application period.
  • Students are also required to attend an interview to assess their financial situation.

FASS Student Advancement Bursary

FASS Student Advancement Bursary


This is a bursary to help students who are in financial difficulties. It also attempts to help needy students who are unsuccessful in obtaining the NUS/MOE/CDC Bursary.

Application period

1 Feb - 1 April

Tenure of award

One academic year.
 

Value of award

Up to $3100 depending on the student's financial needs. Note that the actual quantum awarded is reviewed by the FASS Financial Aid Bursary and Scholarship Committee, and can be adjusted (upward or downward) on a case by case basis .

Disbursement

Within 4 weeks upon submission of acceptance form. Bursary will be disbursed through student's NUS account

Eligibility

The bursary is available to FASS students who:

  • are Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents;
  • have made satisfactory progress towards completion of their academic program; and.

Students awarded the FASS Student Advancement Bursaries are not allowed to hold any other bursaries or scholarships from NUS or other organizations.

  • Students are required to complete the online form
  • By completing the above form, students will be considered for the financial aid schemes offered by Office of Financial Aid (OFA).
  • Successful applicants will be notified by email.

FASS Overseas Double and Joint Degrees Bursaries

FASS now offers some double and joint degrees in collaboration with overseas universities. Such programmes requiring students spend one or more semesters abroad, involve substantial additional costs. These bursaries are intended to make these degrees available to more students who are well suited to the programme but find the additional costs prohibitive.

Application period

In the semester prior to departing for the overseas university for JDP/DDP programme commencing in :

Semester 1 1 to 15 July
Semester 2 1 to 15 December
Semester 3 & 4 1-15 April

Value of award

Bursaries are valued  from  $2500 to a maximum of $5000 per semester  depending on the financial needs of the student.
Scholarships are valued up to $2500 per semester  (maximum of $7,500) subject to availability of funds.

Disbursement

In the beginning of the semester that the student will depart for the overseas university, through student's NUS account.

Eligibility

The award  is available to FASS students who:

  • are Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents;
  • have made satisfactory progress towards completion of their academic programme;
  • are enrolled in the degree programme concerned  and ;
  • shall not hold any other financial awards covering the overseas expenses.

For bursaries -gross family monthly  PCI of not more than $1700.
For scholarships- gross family monthly  PCI of  more than $1700.
PCI refers to the total income of all those living in the household divided by the number of persons in the household.

Application Process

  • Students applying for bursaries are required to complete the online form. The completed online form together with the supporting documents, must be submitted personally to the Dean's Office at AS7 level 5, within the application period.
  • Students applying for Scholarships should complete Part A of the FASS 47-15 form and submit it to  to the Dean's Office at AS7 level 5, within the application period.
