The information in this calendar is correct at date of publication (11 June 2009).
For the latest updates on information and schedules, please visit the FASS Homepage > Undergraduates > To Check > Calendars. Changes (if any) will be marked out in red.
Notes:
1. Only FASS students who have read cross-listed modules offered by FASS are eligible to apply:
(a) those who have read a module cross-listed with an exposure module which they now wish to major in (no minimum accumulated MCs is required) ; or
(b) for other cases, students must have accumulated at least 80 MCs.
Upon approval for module conversion, a sum of 30 bid points will be deducted from the respective bidding account.
The form is available at the FASS Homepage> Undergraduates> To Know > Procedures and Exercises > Module Conversion Exercise
2. This Graduation and Academic Planning System (GAPS) exercise allows returning students to check on the list of modules read.
Students who have submitted File For Graduation (FFG) request for Sem 4, AY2008/09 will only have access to the Modules Taken Tracking (Summary) page to check the list of modules that they have read. For students who missed FFG for Sem 4, AY2008/09, please submit file for graduation request personally to the Dean's Office within 3 working days of the release of examination results. Students must complete classification of all modules before they can file for graduation.
3. This Exercise allows students to indicate their preferred FASS level 1000 – 4000 modules for AY2009/10 . The data collected will be used to help Departments plan the quota for their respective modules more accurately. Wherever possible, pre-allocation of ESSENTIAL AND ELECTIVE MAJOR MODULES indicated by students will be done. Note that this exercise will NOT replace the CORS Bidding Exercise. Please see further information at FASS Homepage for the latest notices on the Modular Preference Exercise.
4. Declaration/changing of FASS majors/minors are NOT allowed once CORS Bidding begins. FASS students can declare/change their major/minor before and/or after the CORS bidding exercise, but not when CORS bidding is in progress. Students can only declare Non-FASS minor during their first login.
5. Students intending to graduate in Sem 1, AY2009/10 should submit FFG request from Fri, 14 Aug – Tues, 18 Aug (12 NOON) . Students must complete classification of all modules before they can FFG.
Note : FFG only indicates that the intent to graduate in Sem 1, AY2009/10. Students are advised to check that they meet graduation requirements upon filing for graduation.
For students who are unsure whether to FFG, but have fulfilled the graduation requirements, they should either
(a) consult the academic advisor of the subject major(s), OR
(b) apply to FFG during this period (Fri, 14 Aug – 12 Noon, Tues, 18 Aug) for the Dean's Office verification and confirmation.
After the release of the Sem 1, AY2009/10 examination results, students who have FFG but decide to withdraw their FFG must submit the withdrawal request personally to the Dean's Office within 3 working days of the release of examination results.
IMPORTANT : Late cases of FFG after exam result release are not encouraged. If you inform us too late of your intention, you would be conferred the degree later, and you would not be able to attend Commencement 2010. You will have to attend Commencement 2011 instead.
If you decide to continue with Honours, then
(a) if you have FFG earlier, you MUST submit the FFG withdrawal request to the Dean's Office. After the withdrawal is updated, you will need to change from the B.A. track to Honours track and proceed with module classification under the Honours track, via GAPS.
(b) if you have not FFG, you may update from B.A. track to Honours track using GAPS then proceed with module classification under the Honours track.
You need to change from B.A. track to Honours track, otherwise you may encounter difficulties bidding for level 4000 modules during CORS. If you are unsure whether to pursue an Honours degree, you may consult the academic advisor of your major.
Once you are conferred the B.A degree, you cannot return to do your Honours. The B.A degree once conferred, cannot be rescinded. That means, you cannot return to pursue your Honours degree. If you are unsure whether to pursue an Honours degree, you may consult the academic advisor of your major.
6. Students are advised to verify that they have registered for the correct modules. Students who are not listed as registered for a particular module may be refused entry to the examination hall.
7. Students who dropped modules with an “F” grade will received full refund of bid points. The grade “F” will be factored into CAP.
8. Undergraduate students who participate in CORS Registration at the start of the semester and who successfully submit their feedback by Fri, 20th Nov, will receive a bonus of 100 CORS bid points.
